The Vulgar, Fashion Redefined

The scandal of good taste

After the Barbican Art Gallery in London, it is now time for the Belvedere Museum in Vienna to present the exhibition The Vulgar, Fashion Redefined in Prince Eugene's Winter Palace.

It is in this very historical place that is presented a wealth of over 120 stunning exhibits from the Renaissance through to the 21st century including historic dress, couture as well as ready-to-wear fashion. This exhibition goes across a 500-year chronology of fashion trends exploring the constantly changing notion of vulgarity, making us realize that all is a matter of perception and habits.

Well-known for its couture work, Maison Christian Lacroix is presenting four looks which illustrate perfectly the evolution of fashion trends through the time. It display creations from the very beginning, 1987, to 2000 enabling us to see the evolution of trends in the same House.

The exhibition is on view through June 25, 2017 and highlights the work of great designers such as Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Miuccia Prada or Louis Vuitton to name just a few.
